Medford, OR – Strong winds are expected to develop late Tuesday afternoon and continue into Wednesday across southern Oregon as a powerful front moves through the region, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Medford.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Southern Oregon Coast, the Shasta Valley, and areas east of the Cascades, where sustained winds of 30–50 mph and gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Meanwhile, a Wind Advisory has been issued for portions of Douglas, Josephine, and Jackson counties, as well as the Klamath Basin.

Forecasters warn that strong, gusty winds may down trees and power lines, leading to possible power outages. Travel could become hazardous, especially for high-profile vehicles along open highways and mountain passes. Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects such as patio furniture, decorations, and trash bins ahead of the storm.

The strongest winds are expected Tuesday evening through early Wednesday morning before gradually diminishing by midday Wednesday. Drivers crossing exposed areas of U.S. 97, I-5 near Ashland, and coastal highways should use caution.
