Boston, MA – A clear and mild start to the day in Boston will give way to increasing cloud cover by this afternoon, with high temperatures hovering near 50 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, the region began Thursday with pockets of sunshine, but skies will cloud over steadily through the midday hours. Light winds will shift to a more southerly direction this afternoon, further contributing to the changing conditions.

Temperatures across eastern Massachusetts, including Worcester, Lawrence, and Plymouth, will generally range between 47°F and 50°F. Areas along the coast, such as Provincetown and Nantucket, will remain slightly cooler, peaking in the mid-40s. Inland cities like Springfield and Hartford, Connecticut, are forecast to reach highs of 51°F to 53°F.

While no rain is expected, residents should be prepared for a gray second half of the day. Drivers may experience reduced visibility during the evening commute due to increased cloud cover.

The National Weather Service advises layering clothing as daytime warmth may taper quickly into the 30s overnight. No weather alerts are currently active, but conditions may change heading into the weekend.
