Providence, RI – A gray ceiling of clouds hangs low over Narragansett Bay this early Sunday morning, the air cool and damp but calm. Rhode Island’s weather will hold steady for now — partly sunny, comfortable, and quiet — before a gradual shift brings more unsettled skies by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Gray/Portland, today’s highs reach near 55°F under partly sunny skies and a light north wind. Monday remains bright and dry, with highs around 53°F and just a hint of a breeze from the northeast. It’s a beautiful stretch for late October errands or early Halloween decorating.
But by Tuesday, clouds will thicken and winds will pick up from the northeast, signaling the next pattern change. Scattered showers are expected late in the day, with a 30–40% chance of rain that increases through Wednesday and Thursday. Gusts could reach 20–25 mph along the South County shoreline, making it a bit raw by midweek.
By Friday, drier air should sweep back in just in time for Halloween trick-or-treat plans, with temperatures staying mild — highs near 58°F, lows in the 40s. Expect crisp, partly sunny skies heading into Saturday, ideal for outdoor events or late-season cleanup.
To be fair, late fall is balancing its moods — a few damp days, a few bright ones — before a chilly November settles in.
