Boston, Mass. – Showers over southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod tapered off Thursday morning, setting up a dry and windy afternoon across much of the state. Skies are already breaking clear inland, while clouds continue to linger over the Cape and Islands.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, northwest winds will strengthen through the day, especially across interior Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Gusts could make driving difficult on exposed highways and may cause minor disruptions along coastal routes.

Communities such as Worcester, Springfield, and Hartford should see steady clearing with temperatures holding in the low to mid-70s. In contrast, Provincetown, Hyannis, and Nantucket will experience more cloud cover through much of the afternoon, with highs around 71 to 73 degrees.

Travelers on Route 3 and I-95 should prepare for sudden gusts, particularly during the evening commute. Outdoor plans will improve inland, but coastal residents may still see limited sunshine until later in the day.

Conditions remain dry into tonight, with continued breezy weather. Additional advisories could be issued if winds strengthen further along the south coast.
