Las Vegas, NV – Southern Nevada’s mountains are under Winter Weather Advisories through Friday morning, with accumulating snow expected to cause slick and hazardous travel across higher elevations. The National Weather Service in Las Vegas reports that advisories started 10 AM PST today for the Eastern Sierra Slopes and White Mountains and 1 PM PST for the Sheep Range and Spring Mountains, all extending until 8 AM Friday.

According to forecasters, snowfall will increase through tonight as colder air and moisture move into the region. Elevations above 6,000 feet are expected to receive 3–5 inches on the Eastern Sierra Slopes and 2–5 inches in the Sheep Range. Higher totals of 5–10 inches above 8,000 feet and 8–12 inches above 9,500 feet are likely across all mountain groups.

Mountain routes—including CA-168, Westgard Pass, NV-156, NV-157, and NV-158—may become snow-covered and slippery, particularly overnight when snowfall rates increase. Drivers are urged to use caution, avoid unnecessary travel at higher elevations, and prepare for rapidly changing road conditions.
