Las Vegas, Nev. – Residents across southern Nevada and northwestern Arizona are enduring another round of extreme heat Monday, with temperatures topping 110°F in many locations and heat warnings in place through Tuesday evening. The National Weather Service advises limiting outdoor activity and drinking plenty of water as highs push between 108°F and 115°F.
According to the National Weather Service Las Vegas office, extreme heat warnings cover Las Vegas, Pahrump, Lake Havasu City, and Barstow through Tuesday, with heat advisories for surrounding counties. Heat indices will remain dangerous during peak afternoon hours, and overnight lows will offer little relief, staying in the upper 80s to low 90s.
The heat wave is expected to break mid-to-late week as cooler air moves in from the west, dropping daytime highs by 5 to 10 degrees. Forecasters say monsoonal moisture could follow, increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms in southeastern Nevada and northwestern Arizona by late week.
Officials urge residents to check on vulnerable neighbors, avoid strenuous outdoor work during the hottest hours, and keep pets indoors. Warnings remain in effect through Tuesday, with updates expected as cooler, wetter weather approaches.
