Gulfport, Mississippi – A noticeably milder, more springlike stretch of weather is expected to settle into southern Mississippi late next week as above-normal temperatures take hold across the central Gulf Coast.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, southern Mississippi is favored to run warmer than average from Saturday through the following Friday as colder air remains locked well to the north. The pattern supports steady southerly flow and a lack of strong cold frontal passages.
Along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, including Gulfport and Biloxi, afternoon highs are expected to reach the upper 60s to mid-70s, with nighttime lows staying comfortably mild for late January. Increased humidity may be noticeable at times, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
Farther inland, including Hattiesburg and surrounding Pine Belt communities, temperatures are also expected to trend above normal, supporting pleasant daytime conditions and cool but not cold mornings. Patchy fog could develop during early morning hours, particularly near rivers, low-lying areas, and wooded terrain.
With no significant cold snaps on the horizon, the warm pattern appears steady through the end of the month. Residents should stay alert for areas of morning fog, but overall weather impacts are expected to remain minimal as above-normal temperatures persist.
