Minneapolis, Minn. – Dense fog is expected to blanket much of central and southern Minnesota, along with parts of western Wisconsin, overnight into Wednesday morning, creating potentially dangerous driving conditions. Visibility could drop quickly in rural areas and along major highways, including I-35, I-94, and U.S. Highway 52.
According to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, areas of fog will begin forming late Tuesday night and may linger until shortly after sunrise Wednesday. Drivers are urged to use caution, reduce speed, and keep headlights on low beam when traveling through fog-prone areas.
Conditions will improve through the day Wednesday as skies clear, leading to sunshine and highs near 81 degrees across the Twin Cities and surrounding counties. Southern Minnesota will see similar conditions, while west-central Wisconsin communities such as Eau Claire and Dunn County will also shake off early fog by midday.
The weather turns unsettled late Thursday into Friday, with chances for showers and isolated thunderstorms. Despite that, the weekend outlook appears largely dry, with breezy winds and cooler highs in the upper 60s by Saturday.
No hazardous weather is expected after Wednesday morning’s fog, though forecasters will monitor for additional storm chances later in the week.
