MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Southern Minnesota residents should prepare for another round of accumulating snow Saturday afternoon into the evening, with the National Weather Service (NWS) in the Twin Cities issuing a Winter Weather Advisory for much of the region.

According to the NWS, snowfall totals of 3 to 5 inches are forecast across southwestern and southern Minnesota, with the heaviest amounts expected along and south of Interstate 90. Areas farther north, including regions near the Minnesota River and into the Twin Cities metro, can expect 1 to 3 inches of lighter snow.

Travelers should plan for snow-covered roads and reduced visibility, especially in advisory zones from Worthington through Rochester. The snow is expected to begin early Saturday afternoon and continue through late evening, tapering off overnight.

Forecast maps indicate only a small chance—around 10–35%—of more than six inches of accumulation near the Iowa border, but NWS officials caution that road impacts could still be significant even with lower totals.

The next update from the National Weather Service is scheduled for 6 a.m. Saturday. Drivers are urged to monitor local forecasts and allow extra travel time.
