New Orleans, Louisiana – A warmer and more springlike pattern is expected to settle across southern Louisiana late next week, bringing above-normal temperatures and mild conditions across the region.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, southern Louisiana is favored to trend warmer than average from Saturday through the following Friday as colder air remains locked well north of the Gulf Coast. The setup supports persistent southerly flow, limiting any meaningful intrusions of winter chill.

In southeast Louisiana, including New Orleans and the Northshore, daytime highs are expected to reach the upper 60s to mid-70s, with overnight lows staying mild and above typical late-January levels. Humidity may increase slightly, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

Across south-central Louisiana, including Baton Rouge and Lafayette, similar warmth is expected, with comfortable afternoons and cool but not cold mornings. Patchy fog could develop during early morning hours, particularly near rivers, bayous, and low-lying areas, which may briefly affect visibility during the commute.

Along the immediate Gulf Coast, sea breezes could keep temperatures a bit cooler during the afternoon, but overall warmth will remain above seasonal norms. With no strong cold fronts expected, the mild pattern looks steady through the end of the month, with additional updates to follow if conditions change.
