Louisville, KY – Light snow and freezing temperatures are expected to create hazardous travel conditions across Kentucky today and into Thursday morning. Drivers should prepare for scattered snow showers and gusty winds that could reduce visibility and lead to slick roadways, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a band of light snow will pass through southern Indiana and central Kentucky early today. While snowfall accumulation is expected to remain light, areas along and north of I-65 may see minor accumulations on elevated surfaces. The heaviest snowfall rates are forecast for late this afternoon, between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., when isolated snow squalls could develop.
Temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s tonight, increasing the likelihood of icy spots on roadways. Commuters are urged to slow down and use low-beam headlights during heavier snow bursts to maintain visibility.
The rest of the week brings more stable weather. Thursday will be sunny but cold, with a high near 38°F. Friday warms slightly to 49°F, with partly sunny skies, but rain becomes likely over the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will bring temperatures in the 50s, with rain chances reaching 90% by Saturday night.
Residents should stay updated on changing conditions through weather alerts and take extra precautions on roads today and tomorrow morning. Drivers are advised to check their tires and keep an emergency kit handy during winter travel.
