Louisville, KY – A blanket of fog settled over the Ohio Valley early this morning, dimming headlights and slowing traffic across southern Indiana and central Kentucky. The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Dense Fog Advisory through 11 a.m. Monday, with visibility dropping below a quarter mile in several spots.

Drivers along I-65, I-64, and the Gene Snyder Freeway should use headlights, reduce speed, and give extra distance on the road. The murky start marks the first challenge in what could be an unsettled lead-up to Thanksgiving travel week.

According to the National Weather Service, rain returns Tuesday as a strong system pushes through the region. Scattered thunderstorms could become locally intense, especially near the Lake Cumberland area, bringing heavy rainfall, small hail, and gusty winds. A brief spin-up tornado can’t be ruled out, though forecasters expect storms to move quickly through by late evening.

By Wednesday, cooler, drier air filters in, setting up a calmer Thanksgiving across the Louisville metro. Skies turn mostly sunny Thursday with highs near 40°F—chilly but ideal for travelers and outdoor gatherings. Another cold front late week could bring a few flurries or light rain as November closes, hinting at an early “winter tease” for the region.

5-Day Outlook:

  • Tuesday: Storms likely, high 64°F.
  • Wednesday: Partly sunny, 48°F.
  • Thanksgiving Day: Sunny, 40°F.
  • Friday: Mostly clear, 41°F.
  • Saturday: Cloudy, light rain chance, mid-40s.
