Louisville, Kentucky – Dangerously high heat and humidity will grip much of Kentucky, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and southeastern Missouri through Sunday evening, with heat index values topping 105° to 108° in many areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah and Louisville, a Heat Advisory remains in effect for Union, Johnson, and Massac counties in Illinois; McCracken County in Kentucky; and parts of southeast Missouri including Cape Girardeau and Perryville until 8 p.m. CDT Saturday. A second advisory will go into effect Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT for Louisville, Bowling Green, Jeffersonville, Elizabethtown, and other central Kentucky communities.
Residents should avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours. Heat-related illnesses are likely without proper precautions. OSHA recommends frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned spaces if working outdoors.
In cities like Paducah, Metropolis, and Cape Girardeau, temperatures combined with humidity could push the “feels like” temps past 105°. Sunday will bring even more intense heat for Louisville, Scottsville, and Glasgow, with indices potentially reaching 108°.
Advisories may expand if temperatures climb higher than expected. Stay tuned to local alerts and check on vulnerable neighbors.
