East St. Louis, IL – Several southern Illinois state parks are experiencing total closures or road closures due to flash flooding over the past 24 hours.

According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Frank Holten State Park in East St. Louis is currently closed to all visitors due to severe flooding. The closures are a precaution to ensure visitor safety as water levels continue to rise.

The Spillway Road and rear entrances to the Washington County State Recreation Area near Nashville are also closed. However, the campground within the area remains open. Visitors are advised to use caution and stay informed about changing conditions.

Standing water near the World Shooting and Recreation Complex has further restricted access to both the site and its campgrounds. This area is particularly vulnerable to flooding, and visitors are strongly discouraged from attempting to enter until conditions improve.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources encourages visitors to stay safe and avoid driving through standing water.
