Paducah, KY – Drivers across southern Illinois and western Kentucky should brace for a wet, foggy stretch of spring weather that could snarl traffic and reduce visibility along key roadways like I-57 and U.S. 60 by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. CDT Tuesday, with visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less in areas east of I-57 and along the Ohio River. After fog clears Tuesday, conditions will shift quickly, with isolated thunderstorms possible Wednesday and Thursday, especially during afternoon hours.

Motorists traveling through towns like Marion, Mount Vernon, and Metropolis should expect slow-going conditions on Wednesday, when scattered showers and possible storms roll in under mostly cloudy skies. While severe weather is not expected, lightning and localized downpours could cause delays. Highs will stay in the low 70s, with calm to light northeast winds persisting throughout the week.

Wednesday night brings a continued chance of showers. By Thursday, expect partly sunny skies with another round of afternoon storms possible. The National Weather Service notes a 40% chance of rain, with highs near 77°F.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday turns mostly sunny with highs near 72°F before a chance of rain returns Saturday and Sunday. Monday could end the streak with a sunny break and a high of 82°F.

⚠️ Stay alert for additional advisories as fog and thunderstorms continue to impact travel and visibility across the region through Thursday.
