Mount Vernon, IL – A significant winter storm is affecting parts of Illinois and Indiana, bringing moderate to heavy snowfall, slick roads, and dangerous travel conditions early Wednesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, KY, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CST (10 AM EST) for Jefferson, Wayne, Edwards, and Wabash counties in Illinois, along with Gibson and Pike counties in Indiana. Additional snowfall of up to one inch is expected, bringing total accumulations to three inches in some areas.
Road conditions are hazardous, with blowing snow and icy patches making travel difficult. The storm is expected to impact the Wednesday morning commute, particularly in Mount Carmel, Fairfield, Mount Vernon, Petersburg, Fort Branch, and Albion.
