Paducah, KY – A freeze warning is in effect for parts of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, and western Kentucky from 2 AM CDT until 8 AM CDT Wednesday. The National Weather Service warns that temperatures will drop as low as 30°F, which could lead to frost and freezing conditions overnight.
According to the National Weather Service, the affected areas include southern Illinois counties such as Wayne, Wabash, Hamilton, and White, as well as counties in southwest Indiana and western Kentucky, including Evansville and Owensboro. The freezing temperatures could harm crops and sensitive vegetation and may also damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Residents in the warning zones are urged to take precautions now to protect vulnerable plants and plumbing from the cold. Steps to safeguard crops and plants include bringing them indoors or covering them with blankets or tarps. Outdoor faucets should be insulated to prevent damage from freezing.
