Pueblo, CO – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the high elevations of southern Colorado through 5 a.m. Friday, with steady snow and hazardous travel conditions expected across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Pikes Peak region.

According to the National Weather Service Pueblo office, the Northern and Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains above 11,000 feet are forecast to receive 5 to 10 inches of snow by early Friday. Areas near Blanca Peak and Spanish Peaks are expected to see continued snowfall throughout the evening and overnight hours.

Farther north, Pikes Peak—also above 11,000 feet—is under the same advisory window, with projected totals between 4 and 8 inches. Snow-covered and slick conditions are likely for anyone traveling in the high country, particularly on mountain roads that may quickly become snow packed.

Forecasters warn that the combination of accumulating snow and colder temperatures could reduce visibility and increase the risk of spin-outs on steep terrain. Drivers are urged to slow down, check traction requirements, and verify conditions before traveling by dialing 511 for statewide updates.

The advisory includes all elevations above 11,000 feet in the affected zones and continues through early Friday morning as the system slowly moves east. Snow intensity is expected to taper off overnight.
