Pueblo, Colorado – Sweltering heat will grip much of southern Colorado through Tuesday, with temperatures nearing 100°F across the plains and a dry, stagnant air mass raising fire danger across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, high pressure and a dry airmass will dominate the work week, keeping conditions sunny and hot. Plains communities like La Junta, Lamar, and Pueblo will see daytime highs ranging from 89°F to 99°F through Monday, while Alamosa and other high valley towns stay in the mid to upper 80s. In the mountains, including areas near Leadville and Monarch Pass, highs will peak between 65°F and 84°F.

Travelers and residents should stay hydrated and avoid outdoor work during peak afternoon hours. Dry vegetation combined with heat and low humidity will increase wildfire risks, particularly east of I-25. Isolated thunderstorms could develop Tuesday afternoon near the far eastern plains, offering brief relief but little rainfall.

The hottest day appears to be Monday before temperatures ease slightly midweek. No major storm systems are expected, but residents should stay alert for red flag warnings if winds increase.
