ALAMOSA, Colo. – Chilly overnight air will settle into the San Luis Valley, where a Frost Advisory is in effect for early Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, temperatures across the valley will dip to between 32 and 35 degrees from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday, with some spots falling as low as 30. The cold will be enough to create frost, potentially harming unprotected gardens and crops.

Communities including Alamosa, Del Norte, Monte Vista, La Jara, Sanford, Fort Garland, San Luis, and Antonito are under the advisory. Officials recommend covering or bringing in tender plants and protecting outdoor plumbing ahead of the freeze.

While this is considered a light frost, colder valleys may see more significant impacts. Farmers and gardeners are urged to prepare for the possibility of additional frosty mornings later this week as fall conditions deepen.
