Pueblo, Colo. – Southern Colorado residents should brace for another round of potentially severe storms Friday afternoon, with strong wind gusts and hail threatening parts of the region by evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a line of thunderstorms is expected to develop after midday, continuing a multi-day stretch of active weather. The strongest storms may bring 1-inch hail and wind gusts near 60 mph, particularly across the I-25 corridor from Trinidad to Colorado Springs.
High temperatures will hover near seasonal averages, ranging from the mid-70s in Alamosa to upper 80s in La Junta and Lamar. Areas west of the Continental Divide, including Durango and Pagosa Springs, may see scattered showers by early afternoon, with flash flooding possible in burn scar zones.
Residents in Pueblo, Canon City, and Walsenburg should remain weather-aware, especially between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., when storms are most likely to turn severe. Outdoor plans should be adjusted, and those in mobile homes or high-profile vehicles should take precautions against strong gusts.
Storms may persist into early evening before tapering off. Additional watches or warnings could be issued later today.
