Pueblo, Colorado – Dangerous heat is pushing across southern Colorado today, with temperatures soaring to 103°F in Pueblo and the risk of heat-related illnesses increasing through 8 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, a Heat Advisory is in effect for Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Cañon City, and eastern Fremont County from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Highs from 95 to 103°F are expected, especially for lower elevations including I-25, US-50, and key travel corridors. Health risks are highest for outdoor workers, children, seniors, and anyone without air conditioning. The NWS urges residents to stay indoors if possible, drink water frequently, wear light-colored clothing, and check on neighbors—especially vulnerable groups.
Elevated fire danger remains critical through this evening, especially in the San Luis Valley and portions of central Colorado where a Red Flag Warning overlaps with heat. Avoid open burning or any outdoor activity that could start a fire, and never leave children or pets in vehicles.
Thunderstorms may return Saturday afternoon, bringing cooler air, scattered showers, and a risk for strong winds and isolated severe storms east of I-25. More typical August heat is likely to return early next week, so stay alert for additional advisories.
Stay weather-aware—another update will be issued if warnings change or expand through the weekend.
