Pueblo, Colorado – Afternoon storms will rattle southern Colorado on Tuesday, bringing the risk of damaging winds and sudden flash flooding to Pueblo and the surrounding region. Gusts up to 55 mph may hit the area, while slow-moving storms could dump heavy rain on already soaked ground, leading to dangerous road conditions and isolated flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, showers and storms are expected to develop over the mountains early this afternoon, then sweep into the valleys and plains—including Pueblo, La Junta, Lamar, and Trinidad—through the evening hours. Forecasters warn that strong wind gusts will be the primary concern, especially along I-25 and Highway 50, with some storms potentially producing hail and heavy downpours.

Communities along the Arkansas Valley and Raton Pass should stay weather aware, as flash flooding is possible in low-lying areas and spots with poor drainage. Power outages and tree damage are possible where the strongest winds strike. Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads, secure loose outdoor items, and have a plan for sudden weather changes.

This round of storms is expected to last through Tuesday evening, with more updates possible as conditions evolve. Stay tuned to local alerts and be prepared for rapidly changing weather.
