Pueblo, Colorado – Strong thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain, large hail, and 60 mph wind gusts are expected to erupt across eastern Colorado Saturday afternoon, posing a flash flood risk in urban areas, burn scars, and regions with recent rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, storms will develop Saturday after 2 p.m., mainly along and east of the I-25 corridor, with flash flooding most likely in low-lying areas and canyon zones. Isolated lightning and hail are also likely, especially near the Kansas border and in counties like Crowley, Otero, and eastern Las Animas.

In Pueblo, residents could see storm activity late Saturday with only a 20% chance of rain by evening, but conditions will shift rapidly. Localized downpours may cause drainage issues in city streets and rural roads. Motorists should be cautious of poor visibility and potential ponding.

Much drier and hotter air moves in by Sunday, with highs reaching 93°F and climbing toward 100°F by Tuesday. Mountain regions may still see isolated afternoon storms into next week, but plains communities should prepare for heat safety.

More alerts may be issued Saturday as storms intensify. Flash flood watches or warnings are possible through the weekend.
