Pueblo, CO – A Freeze Warning remains in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday across portions of southern Colorado, including Pueblo, La Junta, Lamar, and Springfield, as subfreezing temperatures grip much of the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, early morning lows dropped into the teens and 20s across the plains and mountain valleys, marking the first hard freeze of the season for several areas. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing through much of the early morning hours before gradually warming later in the day.

Forecasters warn that additional subfreezing conditions are likely again tonight, which could lead to further impacts on plants, outdoor plumbing, and unprotected irrigation systems. Residents are urged to cover or bring in sensitive vegetation and ensure pets and livestock have adequate shelter from the cold.

This morning’s chill follows a week of cooling temperatures across the state as dry, stable air settles in behind recent weather systems.
