Pueblo, CO – A Freeze Warning has been issued for southern Colorado overnight, with temperatures expected to drop below freezing in several areas, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

The warning remains in effect from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. MDT Tuesday for the Walsenburg area, Las Animas, and Baca counties, including the cities of Springfield, Kim, Walsh, Branson, and Trinidad.

Forecasters say temperatures could fall to around 28°F, marking one of the coldest mornings of the fall season so far for the region. The NWS cautions that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage exposed outdoor plumbing.

Residents are advised to cover or bring in plants, drain garden hoses, and wrap outdoor pipes before temperatures fall overnight. Pet owners should also bring animals indoors or ensure they have adequate shelter.

Conditions are expected to warm gradually after sunrise Tuesday, with afternoon highs returning to the upper 50s to low 60s.

This warning follows a stretch of windy, cooler weather across southern Colorado as autumn temperatures begin to settle into the region.
