Rapid City, SD – Snow and gusty winds are reducing visibility across Southern Campbell County early Thursday, creating slick roads that could slow the morning commute in and around Wright through 11 a.m. MST.

According to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 a.m. MST for Southern Campbell County. An additional 2 to 3 inches of snow is expected, combined with patchy blowing snow as winds lift freshly fallen powder off open areas.

Roads across northeastern Wyoming, especially exposed stretches near Wright and along secondary highways, may become snow-packed and slippery. Brief bursts of blowing snow could cut visibility to under a half mile at times, particularly in open country where crosswinds are strongest.

Travelers should allow extra stopping distance and use headlights during periods of reduced visibility. If you must travel, keep extra food, water and a flashlight in your vehicle in case conditions deteriorate. Wyoming road conditions are available by calling 511.

Snow intensity should ease by late morning, but slick spots may linger into the afternoon as temperatures remain below freezing. Additional advisories could follow if blowing snow continues beyond midday.
