San Diego, CA – The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a Wind Advisory for portions of Southern California’s inland deserts and mountain passes on Wednesday, October 22, as strong winds are expected to develop late morning and persist through midnight Wednesday night.

Forecasters say west winds from 25 to 35 mph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph through wind-prone areas such as the San Gorgonio and Banning Passes. Cities including Borrego Springs, Banning, and Desert Hot Springs are expected to feel the brunt of the gusts.

The NWS warns that gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects and knock down small tree limbs. Drivers—particularly those operating high-profile vehicles such as trucks and RVs—should use extra caution, especially along I-10 and highways crossing the San Gorgonio Pass.

Conditions are expected to ease late Wednesday night as the winds diminish. Cooler desert temperatures and clearer skies will follow into Thursday morning.
