Los Angeles, CA – The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard reports that strong Santa Ana winds will continue across much of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties through 3 p.m. Thursday.
A Wind Advisory remains in effect for the Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County, Malibu Coast, Santa Monica Mountains, and nearby foothills. Forecasters expect northeast winds of 25 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph in mountain and canyon locations. The strongest gusts may occur overnight into Thursday morning, particularly in the I-5 Corridor, Santa Susana Mountains, and eastern Ventura County.
These gusty winds could down tree limbs, knock over unsecured objects, and lead to isolated power outages, especially given wet soils from November’s rains. Driving may be difficult for high-profile vehicles, particularly on I-5, Highway 14, and the 101 corridor.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid parking under trees, and use caution while traveling. Lulls in wind strength are possible this evening, but stronger, widespread gusts are likely to return late tonight into Thursday afternoon.
