Banning, CA – Strong winds are expected to impact parts of Southern California through late Monday night, prompting a Wind Advisory for inland desert and mountain pass communities.
According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, the advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. PDT Monday, covering the Apple and Lucerne Valleys and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning.
Forecasters report that southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected across the High Desert, while the San Gorgonio Pass could see gusts up to 55 mph.
The strong winds may lead to blowing dust and reduced visibility, making travel hazardous for high-profile vehicles on highways and open desert roads. Loose outdoor items should be secured to prevent them from becoming airborne.
The winds are expected to taper off late Monday night as the weather system moves eastward. Drivers traveling through the Victor Valley, Banning, and Desert Hot Springs areas should use extra caution throughout the day.
