Los Angeles, CA – A winter storm warning remains in effect for the mountains of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties through 5 a.m. Saturday, bringing up to six inches of additional snow and wind gusts up to 50 mph.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to impact mountain areas including Wrightwood, Mount Baldy, Tejon Pass, and the Angeles Crest Highway. Hazardous road conditions could affect both the Friday morning and evening commutes, with slippery roads and reduced visibility.
Gusty winds may also bring down tree branches, creating further hazards for travelers. Authorities advise motorists to carry extra supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water, in case of emergencies. The California Department of Transportation recommends checking road conditions by dialing 511 before heading into affected areas.
A second, weaker system is expected to follow later Friday into the night, though snowfall accumulations will be lighter.
Residents and travelers in the region are urged to exercise caution, particularly in higher elevations. The winter storm warning is set to expire by early Saturday morning, but lingering travel difficulties may persist as snow and ice remain on roadways.
