LOS ANGELES – Unseasonable fall heat is set to grip much of Southern California beginning Tuesday, with temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 90s across inland valleys and foothills. A Heat Advisory is in effect from late Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening for the Los Angeles Basin, Ventura County, Inland Empire, and San Diego and Orange County valleys.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Los Angeles/Oxnard and San Diego, high temperatures will reach 93 to 97°F both Tuesday and Wednesday, with limited overnight cooling. The hottest conditions are expected in the San Fernando Valley, Riverside, Corona, Escondido, and Rancho Cucamonga, where light offshore winds and clear skies will intensify the heat.

Health officials urge residents to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity, and check on neighbors—especially the elderly, children, and those without air conditioning. The California Department of Public Health recommends avoiding peak afternoon sun and never leaving children or pets in parked vehicles, even for short periods.

Cooling centers across Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego Counties will be open through midweek. Fire danger will also remain elevated in the foothills due to low humidity and dry vegetation.

A gradual cooldown is expected beginning Thursday as onshore flow strengthens and marine air returns to the coast.
