Los Angeles, California – Triple-digit temperatures and dangerous surf conditions are expected across Southern California through Wednesday as a prolonged heat event grips the region heading into the Labor Day holiday weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, high temperatures ranging from 98°F to 108°F are forecast inland from Saturday through Wednesday, with cities like Pasadena, Woodland Hills, and San Bernardino facing moderate risks for heat illness. Coastal areas won’t be spared either, as strong rip currents and long-period swells create life-threatening conditions for beachgoers.

The heat will increase the risk of wildfires, especially across Ventura County, the Santa Clarita Valley, and the mountains of Los Angeles County. Fire agencies urge residents to avoid outdoor burning and remain alert for fast-moving flames in dry brush areas.

Health officials recommend limiting outdoor activities to the early morning, seeking shade or air-conditioned spaces, and drinking plenty of water. Visitors heading to popular beaches from Santa Monica to Zuma should swim near lifeguards and stay off rocks and jetties due to the elevated surf.

The heat and surf advisories are expected to remain in place through at least midweek, with additional warnings possible if conditions worsen.
