Los Angeles, CA – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for parts of Southern California through 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.

The alert covers Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties, where forecasters say scattered thunderstorms could produce damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and localized flooding overnight.

According to the NWS, the watch was issued at 11:15 p.m. Monday (PDT) and extends into the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and stay indoors as the line of storms moves across the region.

Meteorologists warn that isolated severe cells could form along the coast and move inland toward the Los Angeles Basin before sunrise. Motorists on Highway 101 and I-5 may encounter reduced visibility and slick roads.

The NWS advises keeping weather radios and mobile alerts active overnight, as warnings could be issued if storms intensify.
