Hanford, CA – Residents of Southern California are preparing for a week of extreme heat as temperatures are set to soar above 100 degrees. The National Weather Service in Hanford has reported that a surge of monsoonal moisture is enhancing the probability of thunderstorms, especially in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Kern County Mountains and Desert.

According to the National Weather Service, the thunderstorms could bring dry lightning, increasing the risk of new fire starts. Residents are urged to stay indoors when thunder roars to avoid any potential dangers. The forecast for Hanford indicates temperatures will reach a high of 100 degrees today, with the heat intensifying over the weekend and into next week.

Saturday is expected to see a high of 107 degrees, while Sunday and Monday will peak at 108 degrees.
