San Diego, CA – Travelers and residents along Southern California’s coast are facing dense fog this Friday morning, with a visibility warning in effect until 9 a.m. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), visibility will be reduced to less than a quarter-mile in several areas, including coastal and inland Orange County. Drivers, especially along major routes like CA-76 and I-5, should exercise caution, as poor visibility could make conditions hazardous.

The fog is expected to lift by late morning, but a cooling trend will follow, impacting the weekend and early next week. According to the NWS, a weather system moving in Monday will bring cooler temperatures and windy conditions, with gusts between 40-60 mph possible in mountainous and desert areas. Areas like San Diego and Riverside will experience highs around 67°F by Monday, down from today’s temperatures in the mid-70s.

Over the weekend, foggy mornings will persist, but Saturday is forecasted to be partly sunny with a high of 74°F. Winds will pick up on Sunday night, setting the stage for a significant temperature drop on Monday. Palm Springs, currently under a heat wave with highs near 98°F, will see a dramatic drop into the mid-80s by Monday, with a chance of light rain late that night.
