Los Angeles, California –Southern California will see a split in Independence Day weekend weather, with marine clouds hugging the coast and 90s roasting the inland valleys through Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, temperatures from Friday through Sunday will stay close to seasonal averages, ranging from the 60s and 70s along the coast to the 80s and 90s in valleys and deserts. Some interior areas could top 100°F, especially in places like Lancaster and Palm Springs.
Morning marine layer clouds are expected to blanket the coastal regions and nearby valleys each day, possibly lingering into the afternoon and evening. These overcast skies may keep beach communities like Santa Monica and Oxnard cooler, while inland cities like Burbank and Riverside heat up.
Officials warn that cloud conditions may shift daily. Residents planning to barbecue or use outdoor grills should use extreme caution, especially in dry inland zones. “Leave fireworks to the professionals,” NWS advised, citing fire safety risks across Southern California.
Conditions remain stable for now, but updates are possible if the marine layer thickens or winds increase. Stay weather-aware through the weekend for any new advisories.
