Los Angeles, Calif. – Dangerous heat and fire weather will grip Southern California through the weekend, with temperatures soaring well into the triple digits across inland valleys and foothills. The National Weather Service warns that the combination of high heat and elevated fire danger could make outdoor activity hazardous and increase wildfire risk across mountain and valley communities.

According to the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office, daily highs will peak between 100 and 110 degrees in areas including Pasadena, Burbank, Santa Clarita, and Woodland Hills through Sunday. Coastal locations such as Santa Monica and Long Beach will stay cooler, but still above seasonal averages, with highs in the mid-80s.

Officials caution that the prolonged heat wave raises the risk of heat-related illness, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those without access to air conditioning. Fire behavior could intensify if blazes start in dry vegetation zones, particularly in Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Residents are urged to review evacuation plans, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, and check on neighbors.

The heat is expected to linger into early next week, with only gradual cooling possible by Tuesday. Fire weather alerts may be extended if winds strengthen.
