San Diego, California – Dangerously hot temperatures will grip much of inland Southern California through 8 p.m. Thursday, with parts of the Inland Empire soaring past 105°F and heat illnesses becoming a growing concern.
According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, a heat advisory remains in effect for San Bernardino and Riverside County valleys, the San Diego County valleys, and the surrounding mountains below 5,000 feet. Inland cities like Riverside, San Bernardino, Ontario, and Escondido can expect highs between 95 and 107°F through tonight.
In mountain areas such as Julian, Pine Valley, and Idyllwild, temperatures are climbing into the 90s—well above seasonal norms. Residents without adequate cooling should take precautions, as extended exposure can quickly lead to heat-related illness.
Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and use air conditioning when possible. Vulnerable populations—especially older adults and children—should be monitored closely. Cooling centers remain open across San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.
The advisory is set to expire by 8 p.m., but if heat lingers into the weekend, additional warnings could follow.
