TUCSON, Ariz. – Tucson is facing dangerous heat this week as an Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect through Thursday evening, with highs topping 105°F and climbing to 107°F by Thursday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, residents across Pima County and southern Arizona should prepare for intense afternoon heat combined with isolated thunderstorm chances each day. Storms could bring brief gusty winds and localized flooding, particularly along I-10 and rural desert roadways.

Daytime highs will range from 104°F Tuesday to 107°F Thursday, while nighttime lows stay in the low 80s, offering little relief from the heat. The combination of triple-digit temperatures and elevated humidity will increase the risk of heat-related illness. Emergency managers urge residents to limit outdoor activity, drink water frequently, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets.

Thunderstorms remain a possibility each afternoon through Friday, though coverage will be scattered. Any storms that form could quickly produce heavy rainfall, making low-lying desert washes and city underpasses hazardous.

The heat warning is expected to expire Thursday night, though temperatures will remain near 106°F into the weekend. Additional advisories may be issued if extreme heat lingers into early next week.
