Tucson, Arizona – A noticeable cooling trend is settling across southern Arizona, bringing relief from recent mild conditions and setting the stage for cooler-than-normal temperatures by midweek, along with the region’s best chance for rain in several days.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, temperatures will steadily trend downward through the workweek, falling below seasonal averages by Wednesday. Afternoon highs in Tucson are expected to dip into the low to mid-60s midweek, while overnight lows cool into the 40s. Farther east and at higher elevations, the cooler air will be more pronounced.

The most favorable window for precipitation arrives Wednesday into Thursday, when a 20 to 45 percent chance for valley rain develops across southern Arizona. Mountain locations above 7,000 feet could see snow during this period, potentially impacting travel over higher passes. While widespread heavy precipitation is not expected, brief showers could dampen roads during the daytime and evening hours.

Communities such as Sierra Vista, Bisbee, and areas east of Tucson will feel the colder air more sharply, especially late in the week. By Friday and Saturday mornings, temperatures in eastern valleys may fall to near or below freezing, raising concerns for frost in colder spots.

Dry conditions return late week as skies clear, but the cooler pattern lingers. Residents should plan for changing conditions, especially those traveling to higher elevations or preparing for early-morning cold toward the end of the week.
