According to the National Weather Service, storms could form as early as 11 a.m. Friday and intensify during the afternoon before tapering off late at night. Areas most at risk include downtown Tucson, South Tucson, and neighborhoods along I-10. Motorists should be prepared for sudden ponding on roads and reduced visibility during downpours.
Friday night’s storms could linger past 11 p.m., with rain-cooled air dropping temperatures into the mid-70s. The active pattern continues Saturday with a 40% storm chance, but Sunday is expected to turn hot and mostly sunny, with highs near 100°F.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid flood-prone washes, and monitor updates as new advisories may be issued. The most widespread activity is expected Friday, but scattered storms remain possible through early next week.
