Phoenix, Arizona – Southern Arizona is expected to warm up noticeably late next week as above-normal temperatures spread across the deserts, delivering a more springlike feel and a break from typical winter coolness.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, southern Arizona is favored to trend warmer than average from Saturday through the following Friday as colder air remains displaced well north of the region. The setup supports a dry pattern with ample sunshine and limited storm activity.
In the Phoenix metro area, afternoon highs are expected to climb into the low to mid-70s, with overnight lows staying comfortably mild for late January. Dry air will keep humidity low, allowing temperatures to warm efficiently during the day and cool off gradually overnight.
Across southern Arizona, including Tucson and the Interstate 10 corridor, similar warmth is expected, with highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s. Morning temperatures may still be cool, but freezing conditions appear unlikely. Farther west near Yuma and the lower Colorado River Valley, highs could edge even warmer under mostly sunny skies.
Winds may become breezy at times during the afternoon, especially in open desert areas, but no major weather hazards are anticipated. With no significant cool-downs on the horizon, the warm pattern appears steady through the end of the month, offering favorable conditions for travel and outdoor activities.
