TUCSON, Ariz. – Scattered showers and thunderstorms could bring wet roads and lightning to Tucson Friday, but the weekend looks mostly dry with temperatures climbing toward triple digits again by early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, a 40 percent chance of storms develops Friday, especially after 11 a.m. Southeast winds will shift southwest at 5 to 10 mph, and daytime highs are expected to reach 97 degrees. Thunder chances taper off late Friday night with lingering showers possible before dawn Saturday.

Rainfall is not expected to be widespread, but brief downpours may impact commutes along I-10 and neighborhoods south of downtown. Outdoor events could face interruptions Friday afternoon and evening. Officials urge residents to stay weather-aware, avoid flooded washes, and seek shelter indoors if lightning approaches.

By Saturday, skies clear with highs around 95, setting up a stretch of sunny and hotter days. Tucson will warm to 97 on Sunday and 99 on Monday, with overnight lows in the low-70s providing little relief from the heat.

More storm chances return by midweek, but sunshine and rising temperatures dominate through at least Tuesday.
