Tucson, Arizona – Gusty southwest winds and scattered showers are expected across southern Arizona late Monday as a cold front moves through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph will continue through the afternoon. Showers are forecast to develop this evening west of Tucson before spreading east overnight into Cochise County and surrounding areas.

Rain chances increase significantly after midnight, with several communities seeing probabilities between 60% and 90% early Tuesday. Tucson faces rain chances up to 60%, while areas such as Nogales, Oracle and San Manuel could see higher probabilities overnight.

In higher elevations, including Mount Lemmon and Hannagan Meadow, snow is possible as snow levels lower to around 7,000 feet overnight. Wind gusts in mountain areas could reach 40 mph, creating reduced visibility and slick conditions.

Temperatures Monday remain mild, with highs in the 70s across Tucson, Green Valley and Sierra Vista. Cooler air arrives behind the front Tuesday, accompanied by lingering showers through the morning hours.

Drivers should prepare for wet roads and gusty crosswinds, especially along Interstate 10 and State Route 90 overnight. The changing conditions may impact early Tuesday commuters and mountain travel.
