Mobile, AL – A line of strong thunderstorms is sweeping across the Deep South this morning, prompting a severe weather watch that includes damaging winds and large hail potential.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1 PM CDT Monday for southern Alabama, the western Florida Panhandle, southeast Mississippi, and adjacent coastal waters. The storms are expected to bring scattered wind gusts up to 70 mph, hail up to 1.5 inches, and the possibility of an isolated tornado or two.

The watch area stretches approximately 75 miles east and west of a line from Evergreen, AL, to southeast of Mobile, AL. Communities in and around Pensacola, Mobile, and Hattiesburg should prepare for rapid weather changes and potential power outages due to high winds.

Travel disruptions and downed trees are likely, especially along I-10 and coastal highways. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor objects and avoid unnecessary travel during the peak storm window.

Stay tuned to local weather stations or NOAA Weather Radio for updates and possible warnings as the storm system continues moving eastward through early afternoon.
