Southeastern Michigan Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch: 15 Million People Affected in Midwest

Detroit, MI – A severe thunderstorm watch impacting over 15 million people has been issued for Southeastern Michigan, as well as parts of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The watch warns of wind gusts up to 70 mph, frequent lightning, and hail the size of ping pong balls.

According to the National Weather Service, the watch is in effect until 11 a.m. CDT Tuesday. Thunderstorms are currently advancing southeast across Lake Michigan, with arrival in Southeastern Michigan expected between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. EDT.

Residents in the watch area, including Detroit and surrounding regions, are urged to prepare for severe weather conditions. Authorities recommend securing outdoor items and staying indoors during the storm.
