Detroit, MI – Southeastern Michigan is set to experience significant rainfall from the remnants of Tropical System Beryl. According to the US National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, 1-3 inches of rain are expected throughout today, with localized areas potentially receiving over 4 inches. The heavy rain is predicted to taper off early Thursday morning.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for most of Southeast Michigan. The National Weather Service advises residents to stay alert for potential flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Motorists should be cautious of water-covered roads and avoid driving through flooded areas.

Additionally, small craft advisories are in effect for all nearshore zones of Lake Huron and the Michigan waters of Lake Erie through Thursday. Strong winds of 20-25 knots, gusting up to 30 knots, and waves reaching 5-8 feet are expected. Beach hazards statements are also in effect for Huron, Sanilac, and St. Clair counties due to dangerous swimming conditions.

The forecast for Thursday includes lingering rain chances in the morning with temperatures ranging from 76-80 degrees. By Friday, conditions are expected to improve with partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 82-84 degrees.
