BOSTON, Mass. – Residents across southeastern Massachusetts will wake up to damp conditions Wednesday as showers drift over Cape Cod and the Islands before spreading patchy drizzle into nearby communities. Roads may be slick through the morning commute, especially for drivers on Route 6 and Route 28.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, increasing clouds tonight will lead to overnight showers developing near the Cape and Islands. The system offshore will keep skies gray and temperatures cooler Wednesday, with highs staying in the lower to mid-60s across much of southern New England.
Communities from Plymouth to New Bedford could see light drizzle, while the Boston metro may simply stay overcast. Travel delays and slower ferry operations around the Islands remain possible during the early morning hours.
Conditions improve quickly Thursday as sunshine returns statewide. Highs will rebound into the 70s and even touch 80 degrees in interior Massachusetts, providing a warmer, drier close to the workweek.
Showers taper by late Wednesday, but another round of advisories could be issued if the offshore system strengthens.
