Southeastern Georgia Tornado Watch Issued as Hurricane Debby Approaches

Brunswick, GA – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued Tornado Watch Number 596 for southeastern Georgia, effective from 5:55 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday. This alert follows the landfall of Hurricane Debby, which is projected to move slowly northeastward, with its effects spreading across the region throughout the day.

According to the NWS, the primary threat includes the possibility of a few tornadoes, particularly in areas northeast through southeast of the storm’s center. The tornado watch covers regions within approximately 50 miles east and west of a line stretching from Saint Petersburg, Florida, to Brunswick, Georgia.
